i had a huge response to this written out but then figured, what's the point? people who don't see everything that was wrong with o'reilly's argument won't be altered by mine. so, some quotes and responses that will summarize:
"you guys still haven't figured out how it all began."
well, at least we're working on it.
"science doesn't advance the human condition in any moralistic way."
wow. just, wow. ignorance at its finest.
"i choose to believe."
listen, you either believe something because you FEEL it and know it in your bones or you don't. you can't just choose what to believe because you find it more appealing than the alternative. that's not faith, that's denial.
"it's not fair to leave it out of the science class."
i'll tell you what's not fair. walking to class and having someone who doesn't even know me condemn me to hell. it's not fair that my own family has done the same thing even though they do.
